Zao Cloud

Ultra Low Latency
Video Transmission Platform
for 5G MEC

Zao Cloud

Zao Cloud is a communication hub where all ultra low latency videos are connected and distributed for various applications. Zao Cloud is the management center for various teleoperation or video streaming use cases.

Zao Cloud is a transmission hub for video + control signals which securely and reliably reaches from field to cloud by Soliton’s RASCOW2 technology. After Zao Cloud receives the signals, they can be output to multiple viewers and passed to AI based video analytics applications.

Ultra Low Latency

Soliton’s ULL tranmission solution can send a fully encrypted live stream, but simultaneously a return data feed can be sent from the destination back to the transmitter, for example to control a PTZ camera or to remotely control a drone gimbal.

The technology can live stream reliably over multiple bonded 5G / 4G SIM cards from different network providers, and /or can be utilized with a LAN connector.

End to end latency starts at a remarkable 0,04s.

Key technologies

5G, Soliton’s protocol & ULL technology, 5G MEC cloud system, H.265 and 4K are some of the key technologies behind Zao Cloud.

1. Ultra Low Latency and
Stable Video/Control Transmission

Soliton’s RASCOW2 protocol provides stable and reliable video+control signal transmission with ultra low latency. It combines multiple networks/connections, it does error correction and automatic transmission setting adjustments. RASCOW2 manages end-to-end ULL transmission.

2. H.265 and 4K

H.265 is twice more efficient than the legacy codec H.264. Soliton uses H.265 codec on hardware based reliable encoders. Soliton encoders and transmission technology supports up to 4K @60P resolution.

3. 5G and 5G MEC

With 5G, mobile network latency is getting lower.
With 5G MEC, cloud latencies are also getting lower. Soliton’s ULL technology together with 5G and 5G MEC can provide end-to-end ultra low latency video transmission over cloud.
